The Carolina Ballet dedicates this performance to the North Carolina Arts Council's 50th Anniversary.
Washington Irving’s bone-chilling tale, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, recounts Ichabod Crane and his doomed courtship with Katrina Van Tassel. After a party at the Van Tassel home ends in heartbreak, Ichabod heads for home in the dark. As he passes a church the citizens of Sleepy Hollow believe is haunted, he comes “face to face” with the terrifying specter of the Headless Horseman. At daybreak, Ichabod is gone, and the only thing the citizens can find is his tri-corner hat. Co-Artistic Director, Zalman Raffael, brings this macabre tale to the stage with a new ballet that has the right mix of fright and delight for fans of the supernatural, both young and old.
This program also features two additional world premieres by Founding Artistic Director, Robert Weiss-The Lady in the White Veil and The Raven.
